DUPI’s Claims Management Team completed: Rutger van Schaik joins, following Steven de Lijster and Volkert Houtkoop.
DUPI Underwriting Agencies is pleased to announce the appointment of Rutger van Schaik (54) as the new International Claims Director, effective 11 April 2024.
With this appointment, DUPI’s claims team is now complete, following the recent hires of Steven de Lijster on 1st January 2024 and Volkert Houtkoop on 1st February.
Rutger van Schaik brings with him more than 35 years of knowledge and experience in the insurance industry. Most recently, he was Head of Claims Europe at ERGO Versicherung AG. Before that, he was Claims Manager at RSA Insurance, HDI, and ING. Rutger worked for four years as Consultant Corporate Insurance at Rabobank and started his career as Corporate Legal Counsel at AEGON.
Steven de Lijster, who started as Manager Claims Marine on 1st January 2024, has over 15 years of experience. For the past 15 years, he worked first as a Claims Handler and later as Regional Claims Manager Cargo at MS Amlin.
On 1st February 2024, Volkert Houtkoop joined as Manager Claims Non-Marine. He is responsible for the claims department of CAR/Engineering, Property, and Casualty insurance. With 40 years of experience in the field of claims, Volkert has worked at renowned organisations such as MS Amlin, Delta Lloyd, Interlloyd, and Tollenaar & Wegener. Prior to joining DUPI, he served as Manager Claims Industrial at ERGO Versicherung AG since 2013.
Rutger van Schaik will lead DUPI’s International Claims Team, which is managed by: Steven de Lijster (Manager Claims Marine), Volkert Houtkoop (Manager Claims Non-Marine), Philip van den Nieuwenhof (Manager Claims Charterers Liability/P&I) and Caroline Barendregt (Manager Claims Operations) in the Netherlands, Niels Lehmann Christensen (Claims Manager Nordics) in Denmark, Jean-Charles Agnes (Head of Legal CAMTT Paris) in France and Juergen Magrian (Head of Claims SMABTP Germany) in Germany.
