Voices from DUPI: What our team has to say
Our company thrives on an informal and sociable atmosphere. Several team members are willing to share their unique experiences and give you insights in what makes DUPI a great place to work. These are stories from the heart of DUPI; the voices of Dupians.
Michiel Cuper, Senior Business Analyst
I’ve been working with DUPI for almost 5 years now, and I’ve genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. As an authorised agent, we hold a fascinating position within the value chain. We assume risks and function as an insurer, yet we don’t bear the risk ourselves. In that sense, we also act somewhat as intermediaries, bridging between clients and brokers on one side, and the insurers on whose behalf we accept risks on the other. This arrangement can only function effectively due to our (local) expertise and network – both of which we possess!
One of the things that really stands out about DUPI as an employer is the willingness to entrust young or less experienced employees with significant responsibilities. The company genuinely invests in talent and doesn’t shy away from giving us, the young individuals, substantial roles to play. I can assure you, no two days are ever the same.
Unlike those huge corporate giants, where roles, tasks, and areas of focus are narrowly defined, our playground is different. This dynamic brings a good dose of variety, opportunities to learn across different fields, and a chance to mingle with colleagues from various departments. The atmosphere here is casual and easygoing. We put in the hard work, but we also know how to have a good time!

Kees van Ravenhorst, Lead Class Underwriter Property
Insurance boring? Well, after more than three decades as an underwriter in the property sector at a Managing General Agency, I can assure you, it is anything but dull!
Every day brings a fresh twist, a change to interact with a diverse range of people both inside and outside the company. You gain extensive knowledge about the businesses being insured, you asses risks and you seize or even create opportunities.
Within DUPI, taking initiative and entrepreneurship is especially encouraged. There’s no stereotypical corporate world with stuffy suits. Instead, it’s a melting pot where people of all ages work together, to achieve the best possible outcomes for our clients and carriers.
Ad Boekraad, Director Business Development
Did you also always see insurance as something elusive, incredibly dull, and certainly not for you? That was true for me as well… but you know it can be the opposite when you start working at DUPI. No two days are the same, and it’s delightful to assist clients in their business endeavors alongside motivated and enthusiastic colleagues. After years of working at large corporations, it’s fantastic to be able to share the wealth of experience I’ve gained over the years with colleagues who are open to that.
In my role, a significant portion of my time is dedicated to guiding others, and it’s wonderful to witness how different generations learn from each other. Of course, we’re all focused on running a profitable company, for ourselves and our shareholders, but at DUPI, there’s also room for humanity and well-being.
We spend more time with each other than we do at home, and in that context, your workplace should certainly provide space for camaraderie, compassion, and conviviality. The combination of giving your best, striving to be the best in the industry, and maintaining a healthy dose of enjoyment is what makes working at DUPI worthwhile.
