DUPI Underwriting Agencies and The Shipowners’ Club agree to maintain their EURO P&I cooperation following structural changes within DUPI Group

2020-10-09 | DUPI Underwriting Agencies

Since 2012 under the established brand of EURO P&I, DUPI Underwriting Agencies represent the Shipowners’ P&I Club, one of the 13 P&I Clubs to the International Group of P&I Clubs, as their Underwriting Agent for inland craft P&I risks throughout Europe. With available limits of cover up to USD 1 billion, EURO P&I is one of the leaders in this market.

With over 160 years of experience The Shipowners’ Club, who is S&P A (stable) rated, has in-depth knowledge of the complex risks and liabilities including the handling of their members claims, that our clients face when operating their vessels on the inland waters of Europe. As a market leader, The Shipowners’ Club provides Protection and Indemnity (P&I) cover, Legal Costs Cover and associated insurances to over 32,000 small and specialist vessels across the globe.

EURO P&I had previously been handled through the offices of broker DUTCH P&I, a DUPI subsidiary, but recognizing the strength of the agency expertise within the DUPI Group, the decision was made to transfer the day to day underwriting and claims handling of EURO P&I, including its personnel to form a specialized Business Unit within DUPI Underwriting Agencies.

DUPI is very proud and excited that this long-standing partnership continues to service the Inland Market together, lead in Rotterdam by the experienced and knowledgeable EURO P&I team, backed by the validity of the DUPI Underwriting Agencies operating model and the overall ambitions of DUPI Group. DUPI clients should see no changes in relation to the day to day service levels that they come to expect from both DUPI and the Shipowners’ Club.

Simon Swallow, CEO of Shipowners’ Protection Ltd, the wholly owned managers of the Shipowners’ Mutual Protection & Indemnity Association (Luxembourg) commented that ”.…all at the Shipowners’ Club are proud to continue this special association, working in unison with our friends at EURO P&I as we seek to provide a comprehensive liability insurance solution ensuring peace of mind to the owners and operators of vessels operating on the inland waters of Europe. We value the longstanding relationship with the DUPI Group and welcome their expertise as a specialised underwriting agency”.

We are also pleased to announce that Tristan van Herwaarden (39) returns to DUPI Underwriting Agencies as Client Executive P&I. Having worked as Underwriter EURO P&I from 2015 to January 2019, Tristan brings back to DUPI his experience in the European inland shipping industry and P&I business.
